New to the county level showing game and also never shown anything other than welshes ridden.
My question is I have a 14hh show hunter pony that I want out this season, I have a junior hockey however wanting to know do I need to get her a height cert and what societies do we need to join?
As well, is all the above necessary for normal classes? Or just qualifiers? As I've been told the shp classes at Cheshire are all qualifiers. Baffled!

Cheshire County show is HOYS qualifiers for open shp so will need a height certificate and be registered with either tsr, bsps, puk, nps as well as owner and jockey being relevant members

Thank you, do you know if there is a novice shp class? As she is a novice this season so wouldn't want to put her and her jockey in an open class

Thank you! So unless she's entered in qualifiers there's no need for height certs and society registrations?

It depends what you mean by qualifiers.
All BSPS novice SHP classes are qualifiers for their summer championship show. If your pony is in a qualifying position & you have never been a member then you have 7 days to join & register if you want to take up the qualification. All plaited animals require a height certificate to register.

I meant for the hoys etc I didn't realise they were summer champs qualifiers, so it's not a necessity to be a bsps member to take part? sorry I'm really confused so just want to make sure I've got it right

Carrie you only need to be a member of one of the accredited societies before the day if you want to enter a HOYS qualifying class then you will need a height certificate. The Showing Register is the cheapest at £20 for owner, junior rider and 1 pony. Extra juniors and ponies £5 each.
Good luck !
