I am clipping mine at the weekend, and sometimes I clip him through the summer. It depends on the ponies coat and how it grows. Mines a coloured so I can get away with it a lot more. I would say now would be fine for a show in 6 weeks!

Yes I have clipped with both as my coloured is very pink skinned underneath his white! I actually preferred using medium blades as he didn't have quite enough coat for the coarse blades. It depends how much coat he has?

Anytime , I always start with a coarser blade and change to a medium if I am not happy, you can always take more off but you cant put more back on!

You may already be doing this but for those that don't - After clipping start hot clothing with hot water and baby oil or Supreme Products Hot Oil. Gets rid of the grease and keeps the skin moisturised and we always seem to end up with a lovely shiny coat
