The vet should have gone through it all with the owner, but basically make sure it doesn't get overweight, and feed a diet with little sugar and starch. Exercise is good.

Thank you sarahp, but they have be told by vet to feed dry hay not soaked, so this is why I am questioning the Do and Dont,s , he is also out of work due to tendon injury

Are you on a livery yard or on your own patch ? Track systems are fantastic for laminitics, ems, cushings, etc. research paddock paradise or track systems for horses and it will give you loads of info I have a 12hh welshie and since building a track we have never looked back. She is healthier than ever

Sorry, just seen you're on a yard. Are the owners flexible with how you manage your fields?

My pony was diagnosed with EMS after on and off soundness issues and laminitis. He was managed completely by work, lived off HiFi lite, pony nuts and Rowan barbury mash (think it was the purple one?) The most important part was that he wasn't allowed turnout, even half hour on grass would send him off his feet! He was worked 6 out of 7 days and worked hard, if he came out a little stiff then he would do more work but I'd keep it slow as that was his sign of a bout coming on. Once we got it managed, it was easy to control! Please feel free to PM if you have any questions!
