Ive been thinking of getting a helper with the horses as we have a lot on. For those of you who have helpers what is the going rate you pay as I don't think id be lucky enough to find someone who would help for free?
I would only need help mucking out, turning out bringing in etc and help at shows as and when really as I do like doing a lot of it myself we just have 5 out and about showing and one in the process of being broken to drive.
We have 8 at home, 5 ponies, two of which are colts and 3 horses one of which is ridden when I have time so there is plenty to do.
thanks

Round here, freelance grooms with the relevant insurance charge £8-10ph. You would obviously get someone cheaper if they aren't doing it as a job BUT beware of insurance implications.

Yes I do have insurance but Im not so savvy on whether it covers people sorting my horses. That's not a bad price really as doesn't take much more than an hour to much out and nets in a morning and at night. Cost would just be for a show all day I suppose.

I pay more because I want someone reliable, it helps me go to work and add traveling time. I my experience the best ones are properly self employed so have their own insurance, its a proper job and more organised and have bothered to get the right experience.
