With his wife Wendy they were a great encouragement to myself and Brian when we showed our section Cs with the West Yorkshire. We have some great memories of chatting with Phil, Wendy, Darrell and Shereen, and I learned a great deal from them. He was always happy to chat when we met up at the cob sales after we moved to Wales. RIP Phil, you will be greatly missed. Brian, Lynne and Emma (Brilyn Welsh Cobs.)

lovely man, i remember when i first started breeding, i started with a welsh section d mare, i was showing her 2nd foal in a huge class of 15 foals, and came rock bottom last !!!!! phil was standing at ringside, and as i came out he said, do not be disheartened lass, you have a lovely foal, what that judge knows about cobs could be written on the back of a postage stamp, you will see he will make a fabulous cob, and he was so right, he went on to be a super ridden cob.RIP Phil, remembered with respect by Margaret and Billy Wardropper

We are fortunate we lived just down the road and often used to pop in for a cuppa when Wendy was alive, she always had freshly baked buns or cake on offer!!! I do believe Phil spoke with the hearse driver before his passing and has told them he wants sparks to fly as they set off out of the yard with the horse and carriage!!!!
