Hello, I have a 15hh pony who is currently bitted in a 2 ring gag for jumping and a large wilkie snaffle for flats. However, she has a tendency to be very sensitive and shake her head when in discomfort (sometimes for what appears to be no reason). I have managed to misplace my wilkie so on the hunt for a new one, this has led me to finding whats called a 'Happy Tongue' wilkie and gag. These are apparently used for horses with sensitive tongues and head shaking. Has anyone used these and any advice if they are any good? Thank you!

I use a happy tongue cherry roller for a mare of mine and it's absolutely done her the world of good.
One of my geldings hates it however.
Worth trying from a bit bank
Sent from my SM-A300FU using proboards

if a horse is uncomfortable in it's mouth, go to a milder bit, try a french link instead of the wilkie

if a horse is uncomfortable in it's mouth, go to a milder bit, try a french link instead of the wilkie 7/10 shes almost faultless in her wilkie however she sometimes find discomfort then loses classes, a wilkie is about the only snaffle i have any sort of control as she can be quite strong, hence why im looking at these happy tongue bits

I heat what you are saying, however I would try re-training her if you can. go back to basics to enforce vocal commands. do not do anything that will put yourself in danger or where you would have problems but horses start to pull usually due to a problem, when you first break a horse they rarely pull if bitted and trained correctly. I am not critizing you but trying to help, if you give her something to battle against she will. Really good luck and if I can be of any help please yell
