I'd like to put a TV in my living in horsebox, firstly what kind of TV would I need and secondly does it have to run from the main battery or could it run from a separate one? We've no hook up and would like TV to be able to be used quite a bit without it draining the whole battery. Is that even an option? Thanks in advance :*

I think you could run from separate leisure batteries but would need an aerial of some kind on the outside of the lorry.

Our old Lorry didn't have hook up and we ran one on the leisure battery without any issues you just need to remember to unplug it when not in use as on standby it will continue to use power. We didn't have an external aerial (our new Lorry does and the aerial uses power as well as the TV and it all only works on hook up). We had a portable aerial that picks up digital fine, it worked almost everywhere there was the odd place we couldn't get all channels but it was a good economic solution, and it had a built in DVD player for places with dodgy signal.
If you shop around online you can find one for camper vans that draws very little power, they don't all use the same!

we have a small tv that runs on the leisure batteries with an internal aerial. this does sometimes involve me being very bendy trying to find a place where the signal is good enough, but generally we can get a good picture. we decided against an external aerial because we live down a maze of narrow lanes with overhanging trees and we didn't think it would last 5 minutes! we have an isolator switch on our lorry to stop the lights and tv draining the battery which works fine. the only advice i would give is to buy a tv with a picture that is viewable from all angles. whichever kind we have, can't remember if it is led or liquid crystal, is not great in this respect. my daughter sits up on the luton and gets a great view but down on the seat it's often not very good for me. would recommend a tv though, it is a godsend if we find we have hours to wait or if we are staying on our own at night. we were able to watch eurovision on a perfect signal last weekend! some would see that as a mixed blessing
