We have a rising 4 year old on very limited grazing but has a very cresty /fat neck so I am looking for suggestions as to how I remove it .He is being fed very little and is on Lamalert although not laminitic.

Personally as I've just done the same this week, take him off the grass completely for a few days, week. Keep up the excercise and feed hay and fibre based hard feed only. This sudden warm weather has made the grass grow super quick. Try and get him to loose a bit of weight now before summer is in full swing. It's honestly better to be safe than sorry which sound like you are doing being so pro active. Well done you

I agree with above, what you can also do is sweat it off, use a hood with a plastic bag over his neck. Feed off of the ground to stretch his neck rather than in a manger or net, which is what you would do if you wanted to build up the neck. When you work him encourage long and low rather than side reins effect. Massage the neck, do not strap; you want to relax the neck.
Good luck
