This year will be our first at Equifest, so can anyone tell me what to expect from the show? We have qualified to do the KBIS Intermediate Workers and the Jo Brew Small Hunters I sent my entries off and have received a confirmation and my number, but it mentions an exhibitors pack (info on stables etc) when should I receive this? I also read that a couple of years ago the stables came with bedding, is this still the case? Thanks so excited

bedding does not come with stables or it hasn't in red and blue stables, I am sure you know there are many other classes that you don't have to qualify for that you can enter depending how long you are staying. not sure about an exhibitors pack but stables are usually allocated on arrival

You will get some more info once entries close in July normally fodder shop; gate times and few other bits of info needed
You will go through different gates dependent on what stables you have. Stables allocated when you arrive. Alot of people head down on the Tuesday to set up camp settle down for the classes that start on the Wednesday

Do you book stables before you send your entry? X You have to make at least one entry per stable to be able to book a stable

Good idea to enter at least one class and book your stable asap as the stables do run out eventually! It is a fab show and as mentioned above there are lots of other classes you could enter, including concours, pairs, dressage to music, performance to music etc. The training classes are also very good value. If at all possible I really would recommend getting to the showground on Tuesday as that extra little bit of time to set up and get settled is very useful. There is a fodder shop that can supply shavings, straw, hay, haylage and some feed if you cannot bring your own. Bring a hose with a screw cap end if you have a grey!! Bring flip flops for the showers .... dont ask! Bring money for the shops, wine for the evening, comfortable shoes and a smile!

Is there wash bays/somewhere I can tie horse up to wash him? He isn't grey, but has white patches he likes to get dirty!

Yes there is at least one concreted wash bay area with a tie up rail - there may be more but I have never seen it - the one I know of is in the blue stable area next to a large shower/toilet block near The Callan Family Ring. You can use a bucket and sponge of course but a hose with a screw cap is useful! I personally hate washing with a bucket and sponge as I find that most of the water ends up on me rather than the horse .. running down your arm and into your armpit! brrrr!

Your exhibitors pack will arrive nearer show date Exhibitors stables used to get one bale of shavings free .. tip for stabling wherever you are, take an offcut of carpet to roughly fit your stable and pop it on the floor before putting down your shavings bedding; it will save you money on shavings Fodder is available to buy at the showground but we always took plenty of our own hay/haylage and feed to prevent upset stomachs Take some comfortable walking shoes as you will be doing plenty of walking to and fro There is a small food shop on the showground but we found it easier to venture off showground to local Tesco .. people often car-share to do this Good luck and enjoy!
