Hello! Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem with horses getting very sweaty on hot days in the older style equi trek sports trekas. We have just bought a 2003 equi trek sports treka and pony who has always travelled perfectly got very sweaty on his first journey in it (just a practice run) It was 27 degrees but now wondering if it is the lack of ventilation or the fact he is finding it hard traveling backwards (although it is meant to be easier for them) Thanks for any help!

Hi - please remember the equitrek trailers are more like a lorry and therefore less rugs etc are required compared to a normal open trailer

Thank you for your reply, he was naked, no hood or anything so nothing more I could have done in that area. Just interested to see if anyone has had a similar issue and if they had managed to resolve it.

I don't have an equitrek but do have a 3.5ton Movano small lorry and we had the same issue on our first run. Everything ok now with all ventilation open.
The heat probably played a very large part plus travelling differently to usual facing forwards. Just make sure you have all the windows open and roof ventilation if there is any. If there is no roof ventilation I think you could have one put in.

Yes I have the same problem and mine is a new model.
Am thinking of getting roof ventilation put in. Or maybe getting a fan

I have an Equitrek, and find that the roof ventilation is fabulous on hot days - heat rising to the roof and then can just exit the area!! No more hot ponies or horses for that matter! They travel brilliantly backwards and are cool as cucumbers even after 3 or 4 hour journeys! hope this helps
