Received an email today stating that all entry fees for Wednesday classes would be refunded in full following the cancelation of the show that day - and also the stabling for Tuesday night AND Wednesday night - Fantastic!! Shame on RI who don't refund stabling even if cancelled before the closing date for entries - even with a vets certificate.

Very lucky to get a full entry fee refund, the refund on the stabling is also a bonus.
I'm sure the best way to get some money back on stables is to sell them on privately rather than advising the show organisers they won't be used. Disgraceful that they don't give a refund if they manage to sell the stables to someone else, however, earns them double the money = plain greed:(
I'm pretty sure I've seen on a couple of schedules wording to the effect that selling on redundant stabling is not allowed!
The exhibitors pay the penalty every time, maybe we should all stop doing shows with entry closing dates too far in advance because even with a vets certificate in the majority of events there is no refund!

Royal Windsor will be quite correctly be working under the ethos of 'force majeure' - in this instance, the severe weather conditions. We at the Scottish Horse Show did the same in 2011 when the showground was flooded. BUT - no show is compelled to return entries or stabling -'even before the closing date', simply due to a change of heart or circumstance of the Exhibitor. Some (some) shows, the Scottish HS included, will give a refund (less a percentage for admin) if a valid Vet's or Dr's Certificate is produced. This is usually not processed until after the show or event. NB: Selling stables on privately creates a serious headache for show stable managers, so PLEASE do not advise this route!!

These days of computers, I am amazed that the competitors still have to pay for 'ADMIN' !!! It takes a couple of seconds to delete or instate a competitor/stabling etc etc - I know because I have done it!! It seems to me just another way of making a little extra cash!! Tin helmet on hahah!!!

Tin helmet on hahah!!! Somewhat more than a "few seconds"! And yes I have also done it. It also normally requires further printing of lists, class sheets etc, all of which cost. Plus many societies pay their staff & these staff already have very full days, so extra manpower/overtime may be required plus the banking fees. online percentages etc. As with other things in life, there are normally charges for any alterations made to bookings etc or returns are often at your own time/expense so why would you expect this to be done free of charge (particularly if only at your request) In the case of show cancellations very often the costs have to be born in full whether or not the show has gone ahead, so these fees go towards offsetting this. Tin hat on!

Tin hat on! WELL SAID, Janet! Not all 'admin' is computerised. As for D&B's comment about "another way of making a little extra cash . . . " Don't make me laugh!
