Looking for a new pony/horse for my daughter and, having looked on the Horsedeals website, there appear to be an awful lot that fit our brief. Does anyone have experience of using Horsedeals, please? Call me suspicious, but I wonder whether everything I'm looking at is as good as it seems... Any feedback about Horsedeals would be greatly appreciated. I am really hoping that everything I've seen is genuine but, having looked on other websites recently and found very little that matches our criteria, I'm just a little worried that I may waste a lot of time calling about/going to see horses that are not as advertised. Very many thanks in advance.

Hi, I worked for horsedeals when they very first started up over here having come from Australia. There's certainly nothing sinister about them. They are just like the horse and hound in that respect, a magazine which sells horses and also puts the adverts on their website.
It isn't horsedeals selling the horses it's the vendors like any other website so the only way you are going to find out if it's suitable I'm afraid is by picking up the phone and calling. It may well be coincidence that there are a number on that site that fit your bill.
Good luck in your search.

I hope my OP didn't imply that I thought anyone directly linked to Horsedeals was in the least bit sinister and I know the advertisements are posted by vendors, not the website itself - I suppose I was hoping that people would say, Yes, I bought my perfect horse/pony from that website and can recommend it as a place where reputable people advertise their horses for sale...! Hopefully that is the case and maybe now I'll make some phone calls.

The only problem I found in the past was that some adverts weren't removed once sold/after a certain amount of time so some adverts weren't actually current. Aside from that, as a 'pay to advertise' website, it's less likely to have as many crock pot horses as a free website.

That was one of my concerns, in fact. There's nothing to state when an advert was placed and I did read one which suggested a horse was fit and ready for 2015 - I wasn't sure if it was a typo and should have read 2016 or a very old advert!

Haven't looked recently but the ads used to have a code which had the month they were issued in the mag so gave you an idea when they were placed.
