We're looking to buy an HGV horsebox which is in Scotland. We live in the south. Is there such a thing as a delivery driver who would bring it down for us? Just looking at different options - it would take us around 10hrs to train up there then prob 10/11hours to drive back. With train fare and an overnight hotel etc I was wondering if it might be cheaper (and def easier!) to pay someone to deliver it.....

There are definitely companies paid by the big leasing companies and auction purchaser to move vehicles though not all will move lorries
Search 'Fleet vehicle Collection' on Google and a few come up

Please do not buy the lorry unless you have been and seen it and driven it yourself, not just photo's, prior to purchase!
We were going to buy a lorry from the pictures on Horse Quest, had lots of information from seller. We were very thorough on the question, asked if the photo's were current, was it fully paid for etc., etc. All answers were acceptable.
My son asked the seller to the deliver horse box to us and we would pay for diesel and their train ticket home and give a £100 deposit( they asked for £2k) (lorry was £16,000). Balance would be put into sellers account once vehicle was delivered.
We did HP check on the lorry and there was money owing on finance! Approached the seller on this subject and we agreed that we would pay the balance outstanding to the finance company and the rest to their account.
When the lorry turned up there was a lot of rust and it certainly did not represent the photo's that were shown on Horse Quest and there was an issue with one of the gears! Seller said he would have 'done up' the lorry for a bit more money and fixed the gear shift problem!!
We declined to pay for the vehicle as it was not as described and shown on the advertisement; forfeited the £100 for his diesel money back home.
Lesson learned! ALWAYS go and look and drive the vehicle yourself before paying!

Thanks kateann for the warning. Sounds like you were totally stitched up . Glad you didn't lose too much money, although any amount is annoying. We've got someone we trust going to look at it for us. It sounds like the perfect lorry for us, just typical it's the other end of the country!

Do the HP check and you can also check the last MOT for 'advisories'. Well worth paying for that service Good luck
