Looking at trad cobs with splash markings and blagdons, just wondering how much white is enough to qualify?
Would a splash/blagdon that just about qualifies be looked over in favour of piebalds and skewbalds?

Would a splash/blagdon that just about qualifies be looked over in favour of piebalds and skewbalds? Not sure if you mean whether or not your animal would qualify to be classed as a coloured? If this is your question, then there is a very good description of where & how much white is required on the CHAPS website home page. If you mean your animal is already registered as a "coloured" & would it be good enough to qualify for RIHS or HOYS, then that will depend on the normal factors judged in the class, ride, conformation etc

Both BSPA , CHAPS ,TSR and I think TGCA have the criteria on their websites but roughly it is an alternate colour the minimum size of a dinner plate that allows it to be registered.
There is no mark for quality of the colour markings so I dont see how it can be taken into account either way.

From the CHAPS UK 2016 Handbook: WHATisa “COLOURED”HORSEorPONY?
The definition of a “coloured” horse or pony is one whose coat colour is either white and black (piebald) or white and any other colour (skewbald), e.g. bay, roan, chestnut; with a patch of naturally occurring white coat. This white patch must be on the body above the level of the stifle or elbow, excluding any face markings. Anywhitemarkingbelowthisdoesnotqualify.Manesandtailsmayalsobewhiteorhavewhite in them. Appaloosa animals with belly markings do not qualify.
