I am buying my friends coloured youngster off her and need some advice on showing him. Mum was a Welsh section d and dad was a traditional. Which classes would I and could I enter him in? He has lots of mane and plenty of feather too but at the minute he is only 2. I would like to get him out in hand and then eventually ridden once he is ready. I'm not sure which classes I would enter. Locally they just have the coloured and cob classes but if I went further where the coloured classes are split (traditional, native, etc) what would I take him in? Also the person who bred him didn't register him with chaps or BSPA. I am unsure at the minute if dad was a graded chaps stallion so may not be able to register with them but where would I stand with BSPA. I have been told that he could still get a BSPA passport? I have always had welshes so I know the Welsh ponies inside out but not sure where to go with now getting a coloured. Any advice on either would be very much appreciated. Thanks

So long as it's coloured you can have any passport over stamped with both Bspa and chaps - download any forms and read the info on their websites
To be honest, it's really mainly both their championships where the classes are split native or traditional, most of the time most shows will be split horse, pony, plaited and hairy, or at unaffiliated it's really just coloured. Some regional shows may also be split, but not many! Young stock coloured in hand classes we very popular!
Without seein pictures nobody could advise which one he'd be, but it's also bone and movement that decides, not just amount of hair!
