I've just had enough of being bullied by YO, I've put a thread up in the appropriate section wanting stabling but wanted to post here too in case anyone has any ideas. It's a constant barrage of texts with threats, over anything whatsoever. I keep my stable and everything immaculate but it's still not good enough. I'm no pushover but unfortunately the attitude of the YO is if you don't like it or disagree then you get thrown off. In amongst foul language and shouting and screaming. I've been looking for alternative arrangements since I first moved onto current yard and after a few short weeks the bullying began. Ive stayed ONLY because it's the best access to grazing I can find for my horse. I just don't know what to do, I'm at the end of my tether and have sobbed on many occasions because of YO. And to think I actually pay for this!!! Sorry this is a bit of a pointless post! Tea and biscuits for those who've read this far!

You need to move, simple as that. Like you say you're paying to be abused which is crazy. Think positive, get your act together and find somewhere else before you go mad. I'll just get my tea and biscuits now lol

There are lots of amazing yards all around the country whom would love to have genuine liveries, Please don't feel pressured into staying there and don't be scared to leave either, It's your horse and if you're not happy he will feel something is up too. Do what's best for both you and your horsey

it is not just about your horse, you need to find a yard that works for you too. Yes I know people like to have 24/7/365 turn out, but believe me if you own the land there will be times when you do not do that. This is meant to be your hobby, past-time, way you wind down. If you seriously cannot find a suitable yard sell your horse and find another way to get your equine fix. There is no point continuing if it makes you this unhappy. Mine is a custard cream

Thanks everyone! You know in every other walk of life, there is no way that I'd allow this to happen but for some reason and I know what it is, YO do seem to be able to do and say what the hell they like. All because they can say those words "get off my yard"!!!

Been there and its awful, lots of sleepless nights worrying. As above get out as soon as you can, till then just smile (while thinking of a nice glass of wine or similar) and ignore
Bullies are everywhere in life...awful creatures!

I can completely sympathise, agree with above, just grin and bear it until you find somewhere else! I unfortunately rented some stables on a yard over the winter, up sticks and moved myself (17) and 7 horses over 100 miles, I lived down the road in a static on a farm with no other people living on it, that was constantly being broken into, lived on my own 5 days a week, then mum would come on weekends. The YO was a not very nice woman, who seemed to take great pleasure slandering my name, saying all sorts of vile things, but then proceeding to ask me to do things for her horses (mainly because she was to lazy to do them herself!) I would get spoken to like dirt in the week when I was on my own, the other liveries chose to turn a blind eye to myself, despite them being bullied by the YO, it was the most miserable 6 months of my entire life - luckily we found somewhere so much better to move to, but basically we just gave her 2 weeks notice, didn't tell her the exact date we were going, got up early one morning, packed everything we needed, all the horses and went!

What is it about yard owners (not all in case you are one)! They seem to be in livery for the power trip of pushing people around rather than for the love of horses who they also seem to bully. Now it is all very well looking to move but I did that, bought my house and my land next door to a livery yard and, guess what, the witch still tries to bully me!

i feel for you ,,, and have a friend who is in the same position at the moment , YO is a real cowbag ,and seems to move the goal posts every day ,,, expects everything , for nothing in return ,,, the main problem said friend has is that YO knows everyone around the area , so if she shows any interest in moving anywhere else , she will get wind of it and then kick off , and then probably chuck her off the yard before shes found anywhere else ,,,real dilema sx

YO, Saint or Sinner, I have known some nice ones, some you never see, and dominant liveries take on mantle of 'running' the yard I was at a yard many years ago where the YO, spent a great deal of his time sat with some of the liveries drinking coffee, he listened to all the gossip and based his judgement of people on this gossip, he was known in the area for large turn over of liveries, he had an AlanSugar approach, only instead of pointing his finger and saying 'you're fired' , he pointed his finger and said 'you're out', in general people did not know what they had done wrong, 90% of the time they had done nothing wrong, other than gain a higher dressage score than one of his cronies. He was a nasty little man who seemed to enjoy his power, I did not stay long, atmosphere was the worse I have ever experienced at a yard

If so, then got to agree, he's like this even to people who are not and never have been on his yard ....especially when they do not only well, but better than his cronies, esp the ones that ride his horses. Hell would have to freeze over before Id ever consider going to that yard, I'd travel miles first or sell rather than be there.

Forgot to say. Sadly I do think all year round turnout , certainly in some parts of the country, is a thing of the past, our weather seems to have changed and you cannot blame YO for wanting to protect their land. In the dark ages when I had ponies as a child it was not as wet, our ponies were at home and I can count on one hand how many day they had to stay in for all the years we had them, it may be my imagination, but summers were warm ( not tropical just pleasant) and winters were cold and frosty, some rain yes, but certainly not like it is today. This probably sounds a bit whimsical but I am convinced it was not as wet

I also know of one bit*h of a YO who use to steal my stuff. My horses have spent 6 months without grazing due to fields being shut to liveries but open to YO 😡 Funny how both my horses had really bad 💩💩 when I was on this yard and soon as I moved off they stopped !! Have my suspicions but can't prove it. I now rent a field which is fantastic . I would defo move off 😏

Another who has been on the nasty end of this same ym. Lots have the same opinion or worse. He appears to enjoy controlling and in his own words i dont care if females are threatened and intimidated by me. Definately a doppleganger of yours though with the gossiping and listening to those he classes as friends. At times he can be nice but those times are not worth the abuse and aggression he can dish out. I think the majority stay on the yard due to the amazing lady who does the liveries.

Inkjet I think you are so right .. Plus it had lovely facilities .. I'm on a yard in culceth now .. I have to travel further but great facilities .. So it's worth it , also my son has been in hospital since Wednesday and thankfully there is 24/7 turnout in summer which is a godsend at times when your not able to see to your pony ..

I don't think u can mistake the yard it's ran by a old man Twiglet, don't you mean a really miserable and poisonous old man?? HaHa!! Got to agree with inkjet too, that if it wasn't for the lovely lady that does the liveries, the place would be half empty, except of course for his cronies.

This is unacceptable. You need to remember that we supposedly own horses for pleasure. Following years of the same we have now leased land from United Utilities and put stables up. I think i am finally enjoying our ponies after many years of bit*hing, back stabbing and jealousy, Wish we had done it years ago, no school or fancy extras but happy ponies and happy owners, United Utilies have a lot of small pockets of land around the North West which they will lease, highly recommend
