What pelham bit to pee tend to use on small ponies with children riding for showing currently using a port mouth pelham however not sure this is right bit many thanks for any advise

If you need to use double reins, I would firstly try a double bridle. This gives you ultimate flexibility on how to use the bits. If you don't think the child is subtle enough to use two reins to two bits, then a Pelham can be used. Choose what suits the pony as the priority. Could be anything from a jointed to a ported. The port will make the bit quite severe in some hands. Its very much trial and error so see what you can borrow, or find out what the pony is used to. Good luck
