Might be a stupid question but... are there lights around the showground? as what happens if you are in an evening performance? The stables are miles away from the topspec ring!

Yes, there are lights, mostly hooked up to generators.

Light around the grounds and via the roads
but not very bright by stables so u will need a torch as stables are dark

Yes - agree horse14 - a torch is an essential bit of kit! Tescos do some fab ones that you can hang up and have magnets on the back so you can stick them to metal too. There are huge generator run flood lights dotted around the showground - NB!! if you are a light sleeper and you want to go to bed early do not park next to one of these as they do not get turned off until 11pm! However, they are also very very useful. I parked under one last year and found the droning of the generator sent me off to sleep nicely! It is also quite handy to have some free light when you go to bed and I believe good for security too. ;-)
