A full loan involves no money and has differing levels of offical-ness such as contracts, regular visits etc
A lease is usually a more businesslike agreement where the borrower pays the owner a fee for borrowing the pony. For someone to want to pay to lease a pony it usually is talented in competition, a prolific winner or valuable for breeding
in both cases the borrower is usually able to move the horse to their choice of yard and usually foots all of the bills day to day.
