I stewarded the walk and trot classes at equifest and I want to say to everyone who took part, a very well done.
For adults some 40 yrs plus to enter these classes, took guts, especially when ' children' in the adjoining rings were cantering around.
Every single entrant finished with a big smile on their face, and the looks of achievement was lovely.
For some it was their very first ever show, and all the officials in the Sophie Donald ring were very impressed with you all, and we hope you carry on learning and what's more enjoying your hobby.
WELL DONE !

We have this class at NCPA Pony of the Year Show, for exactly that reason (also open to Non Members & only £5/class)

Just to add to this I judged some of the 'training' classes and they were fantastic. Really polite lovely competitors and I hope they enjoyed the class and got some confidence from it. Well done to everyone in the walk and trot classes as well.

Oh would love my mum to do one of these! She is so nervous about cantering.

First let me say that anyone learning to ride later in life has my full approval and support - one of my Ds has been out on very happy loan for some years to do just that.
This will come across as a grumpy old woman I know, but if an adult not yet confident cantering is on an animal that for example spooks at the ponies cantering in the next ring, or a hot air balloon comes over or some such - is the rider safe? Show grounds are busy places, and novice adults can easily lose hard won confidence, and are more easily damaged if they fall than the youngsters.

Further to add about the training classes.. Katy Marriott Payne was fab, so kind and helpful... She must have been roasting as it was so hot that day yet she didn't rush any of the classes and gave everyone lots of chances to learn and improve. Much appreciated with a young horse - really good on the first day to work through behaviour issues and paid off hugely by the end of the week when she got placed in some of her big non training classes. Thank you!
