Has anyone had blood test come back as positive for in foal but it turns out to be wrong? I have only ever blood tested twice (once last year and all straight forward) and one mare this year that was proving difficult to see anything on a scan so tried for blood test as I need to know going into winter etc... She has come back as positive but vet is worried this could still be wrong, I couldn't get full details as we got cut off! Anyway, anyone had any wrong experiences with blood testing? And any suggestions on how to know for definite? thanks

how long gone do you think she is? if over 45 days - 95 days and you have tested for Serum gonadotrophins in blood and its come back positive and your still wary, I would maybe wait till over 120 days for Oestrone sulphate test. that should be reliable. that's what I always go off with mine, never been wrong and I have negatives too.

I'd test again at 120 days and see what comes back from that, the levels peak at about 150 days so see what your vet suggested on timing.
Fingers crossed for you
