I am debating the benefits of registering my mare with the SPSS and entering her in for a grading next year
Has anyone done this and found that there were benefits? Pony in question is a riding pony who could potential excel at different disciplines so anything that adds to her CV could be useful

I looked at it and also BEF as I was breeding over 14.2's and I can not really see the point. Ponies tend to sell on their results, top performance horses even with the best of breeding do not seem to have a huge market in the UK. I concentrate on getting them well started and then aim them at a market that will do well at.

Long term it should improve the breeding of top performance ponies in the UK.

To add to this, if I understand correctly, these gradings are also recognised by a wider equine audience. So, our native breeds and riding ponies might well be suitable for say, dressage. But that market will more inclined to seriously consider them if they are graded as suitable for 'their' job. Well, let's hope so anyway!
