Hi, I was a horse fanatic way back but never got a chance to even touch many until I discovered the Horse Rangers association at Hampton Court back in 1961 or so, set up to help poor (i.e. me) and disabled kids. It was a strange quasi-military affair but we did get to ride one week and muck out/clean tack etc the next. Even mucking out was heaven to me at that time!
Anyway, I'm now a translator and sometimes translate for major horse shows, even though I have very little to do with horses here on Fuerteventura. Research kicks off all sorts of memories and I can't get one half-remembered event out of my mind now. It was a very sad occasion at a televised indoor event. One of my favourites had a nasty accident and didn't get up. Then they put screens round as the commentator tried to think of things to say. The poor horse was shot there and then. I remember crying buckets at the time and I need to put the memory to rest again. Can anyone help with the horse's name, or the rider's?
