Is it too late to clip?
Got two geldings coming back into work after a reasonable time off die to back injury, is it too late to clip them?
Will be lunging regularly and coming back into light to moderate work over the next few weeks.

That will be better as it won't grow back until their coats start to change in the spring.

Depends on the pony, I can't clip my fell later than the beginning of December because he stays patchy until about July if I do. I know plenty people who clip late though, should be fine

Today is the day! Tonight is the longest night, the increase of daylight does trigger the change of coat. But every pony is different, I would clip in your case. Looking forward to Spring

I've held off this year. First time I haven't clipped in years! I'm aiming for lovely summer coats naturally this time (preferably before June this year!!!)

One grows a rather thick winter coat which takes forever to come out, the other is a TB x with a naturally fine coat but even he is slightly wooly this year.

Looking forward to Spring My highland has started moulting ! It's been a very funny Autumn/ Winter, well it has here in West Wales. We did have a cold and overcast spell earlier on in November, but some of this month has been very bright and warm, hence if it has been the same with you I am not surprized that you Highland has started to moult. Just goes to show that there are no hard and fast rules regarding most things with horses/ ponies, what works for one does not always mean it will work for others; afteral we are all individuals so why can't equines be the same? Tips: for those who's neddies have started to moult, put a cotton summer sheet under their rugs, it saves everything getting hairy

My boy doesn't wear a stable rug as he gets far to hot. Just shows he's meant to be in colder weather like they have in Scotland.
