Has anyone had this problem? No nasty comments I work within an equine hospital so have access to vets which I am doing just looking to see if anyone has had this issue...
Horse is currently dragging his right hind toe in trot only it's also very very slightly noticeable on the left hind too but both aren't major! Shows no signs of pain or discomfort and works beautifully he bends lovely on both reins he does need a new saddle though and has been off work most the summer and on box rest due to a condition he had but has been back in full work since October, so unsure if it's a fitness thing a sore back or something muscle/skeletetal or something like arthritis as he is 12 this year

It could be all sorts of things, mostly what you have mentioned above, also ulcers can effect right hind, think you are best getting the experts in because he shouldn't be doing it unless he's really unfit and I suppose that is questionable too because it usually is due to a problem. You could try pole work to get him lifting his hocks up but again if he has a problem in that area it won't do him any good just make things worse. Good luck, unfortunately been there and it always costs a fortune as they will probably go down the bone spavin, sacroiliac route.

My young native was guilty of this as given half a chance he could just be lazy. I've worked at changing his mind set to bring more forward, uphill and most imprtantly active behind.
