We are considering buying a Hyundia Santa Fe for towing. We have a Kia Sorento at the mo and this has been brill but the new shape Kia does not get a very good write up with towing so have decided not to go with a new Sorento. Has anybody on here got any experience of the Santa Fe for towing ? We have an Ifor Williams 510 trailer.

The new sorento is much better. It took a serious nosedive in 2012 as they used a lighter weight chassis and had self levelling suspension. It towed appallingly. Believe me we bought one and it was a very expensive mistake. The newer ones are better on the chassis & suspension but I would err on the side of caution and I personally wouldn't touch one again for towing.
The Santa Fe is basically the same car with a different badge but has much better reviews. It doesn't have quite as many 'gadgets' as the sorento but think it definately tows better.

Thank you for replying = I loved my old Sorrento but it is now time for a change to a newer vehicle and just looking for people's experience of towing vehicles.

Have a look at VW transporter. We have the shuttle 4 motion. They are the best tow vehicle with room inside to nearly house a pony!!!! The 4 motion ones are 4wd. We also have an L200 pick up & a ford ranger pick up. Both do a great job towing too & obviously both are 4wd.

I too had an old version Sorento which I loved and towed great but had to changed make when the downgraded its towing capacity. I went with the VW Touareg which is fab and even better than the Sorento.
