Traditional cobs mane

My recently purchased traditional cobs mane has been what looks like chewed before we got him
Its resulted in leaving some long some short
Do people think its best to pull it to shorter length which will still be a good length or leave it

Never shown a traditional, but I would want the mane the same length throughout.

Yes, I would pull the mane to the same level. It will look much smarter.
