Oh heck thanks for that. Not sure if it affects us. We usually come off at Lymm??? That is the normal way & the signposted route from the M6 - not sure you could ever get in the other way with showing horse boxes? We've always used the junction 19 way in. There were road works last year so not surprised it's changed. Best go off and read the info in the pack!!!

It was the actual entrance gate I was talking about - I think the junction 19 route still took you to the same gate? I always thought the gate on the A556 was for trade stand traffic etc, but may be wrong as I usually come from the north or from Chester Apologies if I've mislead anyone, but it is always fully signposted from every direction

Can you buy ticket pass on the gate? We've had a change of circumstances and now need an extra pass

We are usually in about 1000. I wouldn't leave getting there later than we do as rush hour round that area is manic as can be the queues into the showground. Do you know if it quietens down around that area? I'm in the hoys fell and it's second to last. I don't really want to be there mega early as think it'll be about 3/4 that I'm in but if it doesn't quiten down at all I don't think I'd dare risk it. Wish they would just publish numbers or at least put a not before time on the ring. From our own experience, Hoys fells usually go in the ring late afternoon ... always big classes at Cheshire .... we found that if we left home at lunchtime (we live one hour away from showground) we did not encounter much traffic and no queues to get in (following signs from Junction 20) Good luck and have a great day!

Just to clarify the route in - it is signposted from j18 of the m6 if travelling north and from j20 of the m6 if travelling south. Highways don't like j19 being used as show traffic backs up onto the motorway which can be dangerous.
However, for those who have used j19 previously and used the manchester bound a556 to then turn left down Old Hall lane and come in the back way to the horsebox park, that road is no longer accessible due to the new road layout. Last year they opened it just for the show as it had been closed for the roadworks but now complete, the junction doesn't exist anymore.
You can in theory take the Northwich bound a556 and take a right into pickmere lane BUT I know that for a recent event on the showground the police wouldn't allow that junction to be used due to the danger involved with having to cross all lanes of the dual carriageway so I wouldn't bank on it being accessible - maybe cheshire show could confirm please? The best and safest thing to do is allow extra time and follow the signed route tbh.
I think Janet is referencing the show entrance on the a556 itself which is livestock/heavy horses and spectators. The light horse vehicles park at the opposite end of the showground with the gate on pickmere lane.

Just to add - there are also a few low bridges in the area, particularly travelling from j18 so it is worth reading the directions in the exhibitor pack if in a lorry and making sure you know the height of your vehicle. My 7.5t box has always fitted under the bridges but just be prepared.

Thanks it's my first ever hoys class, super nervous. I'm about an hour away thinking of leaving about 11.30 and I'll get there 1ish at the latest.

If I've purchased a child's admission ticket will this be ok to get in with other do they prefer something different if your going in horsebox? So long as it's for a child who is under the age limit for child's tickets then absolutely fine. There are no wristbands or restricted areas in the light horse section so exhibitor and/or standard admission tickets are fine. Always absolutely fine to buy more on the gate. Have been today and you can still get in coming from the north on the M6, the same way as in previous years, turning left on the new road, after coming off the slip road.

Brill thanks. Hope you had a good day. Grooming/stewarding today back with a novice in the morning, fingers crossed! Ah good luck tomorrow. We are taking a novice C with a friend. Leaving our LR at home now as it's supposed to be really hot again and she would be on the lorry for 14 hours if we go by previous years. Think she will be happier at home in the shade and jockey won't overheat either!!!

Just wanted to say thank you to the organisers, judges, stewards and everyone else involved for such a lovely show, as always. Everything was spot on. I do have to say that the change of photographer covering ring 7 to emm pix is a massive improvement and I hope to see them return next year.
To be fair, the horses all coped really well with the heat as there was a slight breeze and the sun was kind enough to be in the right place this afternoon to cast a good amount of shade over the horseboxes so you could tie up in the shade! Enough taps dotted around too so don't worry about running out of water.
Best ever in terms of traffic for us too. Arrived just after 12 noon and left at 6 and didn't get stuck in a single hold up from show traffic.
Good luck to everyone competing tomorrow.

Due to the accident and the closure of the M6 causing traffic problems in the showground area and the extreme heat yesterday we left before the completion of the ridden rings - in particular ring 8 and 5 as I think a lot of competitors did. I know that you do not usually do this but could you post the mark sheets for classes in particular the HOYS M and M classes from yesterday thanks
