What bit do people use with a Shetland that has a large tongue and teeth have been done but plays with his mouth.

A loose ring french link is always a good choice. They tend to be fairly slim and the bonio shaped center plate sits flat on the tongue.A bonus is that being double jointed helps little ones with steering ( something I have frequently observed going wrong ) Having a loose ring helps minimise unsteady hands. See if you can borrow whichever bits you try until you find what suits your pony. Please avoid wilkies.
