Can anyone help please, if my mare has a show jockey, are they then ever able to be judged by them again? Horse has previously been ridden by someone who will be judging a few of my classes this year - can I enter if they haven't ridden her this season? Thanks

The best place to direct enquiries such as this one is to the relevant society you are intending to compete under, that way, there can be no confusion over any incorrect information passed.
I would imagine most societies would not alllow a horse to be judged by someone who has competed that horse previously.

If the judge has a connection to the horse then no you shouldn't go under that judge. Doesn't matter if the judge hasn't ridden the horse this season (season has only just started).

It probably depends on the society and it is unfortunate for you if this was before you owned the horse etc but most are a no. A judge shouldn't judge a horse or pony they have ever ridden.

Before contacting your showing society, ask yourself this question:
How would I feel if I was riding in a class and another competitor's horse had been ridden by the judge at a previous show?
More likely than not, you will feel that that competitor had an unfair advantage over you, in which case you have your answer and should not take your horse under previous rider/judge.
However, if that scenario does not bother you at all and you think it is ok, then your next stop would be to ask your showing society who I am sure will not allow it

Our horse has previously been ridden by 2 different judges. One rode him once at a show for a previous owner years ago and one at home for schooling. I would not go under either of them, neither me nor they would feel comfortable with it whether the rules would allow it or not.
I have a list of people who can't judge him and if we ever have to sell him it will go in his passport.
It's very unlucky, but it's the way it goes. I spend the season inwardly groaning about this and that being unfair so I can't morally do something I think is wrong and don't want to put anyone in an awkward situation.

Its a NO for all the reasons put forward on here even if it is within the rules. You cant win this one if you are down the line you will think you are hard done by if you win your fellow exhibitors will scream fix !
Its the old integrity thing either you have it or you dont

Even if the societies allow it the Judge in question may ask you to leave the ring if she recognises the pony. You have seen all of the judge bashing posts on here so it would not be fair to put the person in that position.
