Went to a local agricultural show today with bsps affiliated classes for mountain and moorland. The judge asked them for an extension on the go round. I did affiliated and agricultural last year after stepping up from local and I never got asked to do this. I'm doing a couple of hoys qualifiers this year and I'm wondering if it's something I'll need to do. I've watched the m&m classes at GYS every year for ages and never seen an extension in the go round except for cobs but my friend said she has. Is it just judges discretion? My pony is fine and it won't phase him but I just want to be prepared.

They asked for a gallop on the go round at South Suffolk last week although most of the junior's small breeds jockeys didn't understand when the steward asked them to push on down the long side . The gallop on the go round was fun in the amateur riders with all the large breeds and my daughter on her section a but luckily he doesn't mind . I think it's definitely judges preference , some ask for it most don't . It's more common in championships and you should definitely be prepared for it .

Yep that's what I thought I've only ever been asked to do it in a championship. I wouldn't mind if they asked might gee him up a little bit haha.
