For everyday riding, I always wear my jodhpur boots and chaps but have a pair of long leather riding boots for showing. When I say showing, I only compete at my local riding club shows, nothing at a higher level. Whilst at a show on Sunday, I noticed the rider next to me was wearing jodhpur boots and gaiters, which looked really smart. I've always struggled with riding at shows in my long boots and even though I've tried wearing them for schooling at home, just can't get on with them, so was wanting to give jod boots/gaiters a try but not sure where to start looking and what brands - does anyone have any recommendations? Obviously, want them to be smart enough for the show ring. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Leather jodhpurs boots and matching gaiters can be bought from Mark Todd and other leading brands. The benefits are that the gaiters can be bought in, I think 3 sizes, short, regular and long. They are great for tall but slim jockey's. They look good in the ring and I have seen at least one producer's jockey wearing them. My grandson has also worn them at County shows and not been penalised. Fitted properly and bought as a matching pair, they look really good and can barely be noticed as not being full boots. There is a site, think it's equestrian clearance, that we bought the boots and gaiters from, I recall the cost for the pair was about £125 plus delivery (mark Todd brand)

I have had a few ariat pairs for at home and also use them for clinics, lessons, hunting, xc schooling etc. They can look just as good as boots if like above you buy the matching pair. They fit brilliantly and actually much comfort than proper boots (and warmer out hunting!)
