Does anyone have any tips on the best way of removing black pony make-up from a tweed jacket?

Try Orvus Paste. I had a very heavily stained tweed jacket and this improved it greatly but didn't get rid completely. You only need a tiny bit and you can bath your pony in it aswell.

test whatever you use on a bit of tweed that will not be seen , such as the underside of a pocket flap.

Agree with maxandpaddy, the fairy liquid breaks up the grease in the make up, helping to lift it, blot afterwards with a clean white and absorbent cloth or towel. To be totally honest, any good dry cleaners should easily be able to remove it, as they have very specific chemicals to do this type of job on all fabrics, even delicates such as wedding dresses. You can also buy Colour Lock De-Greasing and Oil stain Removal spray from Amazon, which is amazing although at £18 ish quite expensive initially, but well worth keeping in and much cheaper than a new tweed.
