Hi everyone. We're attending Royal Welsh this year for the very first time and with only 3 weeks to go we are so so excited! We've always wanted to go and now that it's happening we are fit to burst!
Just looking for any top tips/advice. Not really anything specific but just putting the feelers out as I know a lot of people will have had different experiences and picked up tips along the way! (We've been pre warned to take comfy shoes!!) I'm showing my friend's 2yr old Welsh A filly on the Wednesday and we'll also be there on the Thursday too. We're staying offsite at a stud a few miles away.
Any must sees (other than the cob stallions which I think will be our highlight!)? Any dos/donts?
Any tips are gratefully received! 😊😊😊

No do's or don'ts just go and enjoy. It's such a fantastic experience you will just find yourself taking in sights you've never seen before. There's one thing doing the Welsh shows with big entries but when you get 40, 50,60 ponies in the class it's a real buzz.
Your first trot out is the one that counts, that's the one that determines whether you are on the front line or the back line. In a huge class it's usually the front line that stays in for judging.
Get to the main ring early if you are watching the senior cob stallion class, get your cheering voice ready and be prepared to lose your voice. It's the most amazing sight watching those boys go round the full arena and the bigger the trot the bigger the shouts!! I've goosebumps thinking about it.
Have the most fantastic time. And if you're not cheweing at the bit for next years schedule when you've got home there's something wrong.

I've never been to the Royal Welsh - that's on next year's agenda, but both my girls go and love it. We did the Winter Fair this year, and that was great fun - found everyone so helpful and friendly and I loved the showground. Good luck, enjoy and I look forward to hearing about your experience.

We FINALLY made it for the first time last year and although we didn't have much time (long story of Chloe's showing gear not arriving till last minute!!!) what an incredible show. This year Chloe has the huge honour of ride judging so I shall be watching and enjoying every minute from the grandstand, very excited. Hope I get to get around the showground a bit as well but will have to hot foot it home for New Forest! Just wish it didn't clash with RIHS and New Forest which are both reasonably local to us. It does get so packed and be prepared for long walks! Enjoy

Try and park as low down on horse hill as you can (your legs will thank you!) and remember even if you are at the bottom it can take 15+ mins to get to the rings, so give yourself plenty of time.
Also don't forget if you are lucky enough to be in the top 3 you will need to parade at the end of the day or you forfeit your prize money!

Just wanted to thank everyone for their words of wisdom before we went. We had the most amazing time, running around that main ring is something else! We're already counting down the days until next year!

So pleased you enjoyed. The RW ring is like no other when you show welshies.
