Planning for next year. We have an M&M and a riding pony- lead rein with both and thinking about starting first ridden with the riding pony next year (the M&M too lazy!).
Which society/s would give us the most options for not crazy money?!
We're in the south west.

Hi
The NPS you as the owner would become the member. That would cover both ponies. If you are doing HOYS qualifiers then the riders will also need to be members of a showing society. The NPS offer a family membership at a discount until the end of January £135, this includes two adults and two children or a Qualifying membership for the adult alone is £65 and that will cover you for NPS qualifiers.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for that. Do you know how much junior membership is? Will only be one show rider until the following year.

It really depends on what level you want to show at.
You can enter any affiliated LR & FR classes without being a member of any society EXCEPT if they qualifiers for HOYS &/or RIHS, & BSPS Blue Riband qualifiers, then membership of a/the society is mandatory.
Why not decide which championship show(s) if any, you want to do & take it from there.
With BSPS you have 7 days to join after you are in a qualifying position, with NPS you must already be an adult member in order to qualify for their summer championships.
If you are aiming for RIHS & HOYS then the only membership that covers both sets of qualifiers is BSPS HOYS alone & you can choose BSPS, NPS or TSR

Thank you- I'll look into both of those. The reason for the question then I suppose is that I don't really know what to aim for! I don't really know the options for LR/FR- they are both certainly county level ponies but I don't know how they would fare in top company. Which society gives the most options so we can find our level? We're not going to drive hours with young kids either so it's also about the number of shows available etc. It's very hard to work out the best option!

busymare - in that case I would go on all the different society websites & look at the lists of qualifying shows (these get updated regularly, or should do!) & see how many are available for your ponies. If you won't be travelling to the championships due to distance then why not just go to some shows tp test the water yourself? BSPS shows will definitely have classes for both types of animal & NPS will definitely have M&M classes & the show may also affiliate to BSPS so may cover both types.
