That was what I wondered too? Treat the lice first, then use megatek to get the hair to grow back quickly.

My old mini had god awful lice i tried all sorts, some one on here suggested frontline spray, it was expensive but it worked a treat. The fur will grow back after when his new coat comes through- if you not broke after buying the frontline then id megatek it too.

There is so much of it around this year. Couple of mine have had it too, its because of the constant change in the weather. My vet said she hasnt sold so much louse powder in all her life as she has this year!

We always use Coopers Fly Repellent for lice, try that if run out of powder. My vet says it is the most effective treatment.

shampoo in dermoline insecticidal shampoo its great for lice at least it doesnt get blown or shaken out like the powder does. it tells you how much to use on each horse on the bottle ,idiot proof made for people like me. if you do use powder i would rug them for the day so it doesnt shake out,if the weather is not nice for bathing.

Yeah definately try coopers fly repellent.Ive just used it on my old horse, they were gone in a day!! I tried various powders but they were no use.
You will def be able to see them with the naked eye if they are lice!!!

You can see lice , very small white specks stuck to the hair. It could be something else.
Deosect is good for lice.

No they had a definate shape, with smooth edges to their body! They stick when you try and pull them off the hair shaft. ;D

No- they are small grey and are reasonably easy to spot- push the hair along crest in wrong direction and the little critters are spotted then if present.

Hi, I have had trouble with lice with my youngsters, same time every year. Last lot was few weeks ago. Used louse powder for a week, but no use. Tried Frontline Spray and they were dead and gone within 2 days. Fantastic stuff. Cost about £30 for a small bottle but 1 bottle did 2 of my yearlings.

My farrier had a strange remedy for lice the other day, put sand in the coat and spray it with Scotch. Couldn't decide whether it was an old horsemans' trick or he was pulling my leg!!!

my filly foal had it- i only realised when i took her toa show- she was gleaming white with these oversized nits (lice) crawling through her coat- i have never been so embarrased in all of my life
i tried louse powder but it had no effect at all
but somebody recommended bathing her in dermoline incecticidal shampoo it blue in colour,

MY pony has been itching himself raw, vet says its an infection but to delouse him anyway as 2 other ponies on the same yard have lice, so iv used this stuff (begins with B but cant think for the life of me what it is) off the vet, tis very strong and i diluted it in warm water an put it all over my colts body, iv been advised to do it again in 10 days.
