Hi Folks
Some of you might have read that we recently got a new puppy, Skye. She is lovely. In his wisdom my beloved decided; and why I cannot contemplate why, decided on the first 2 nights we had her, to sleep on the floor next to her cage, yes I know what you are all thinking, what a lovely man but an idiot! So the outcome is the now unless someone is with her she does not sleep.
Has anyone got any remedies other than hit the beloved hard over the head, which would make me feel better for about 5 minutes but not solve the problem!
She got herself so wound up last night that she gave herself an uppy tummy and she does NOT like poo in her cage!
I have said that after lunch and this evening she must be kept awake. Other than that I am at a loss, and no she is not going to sleep with us lol.
So suggestions please.

i am know expert but could you try putting some clothing there that smells of your husband and something which makes a sound like heart beating? my advice comes from babies and not dogs so sure somebody else might have better advice. hope you manage to find a solution x

I wouldn't try to keep her awake personally as you will end up with a more stressed pup! But what I would encourage is her to be put into her crate during periods in the day while she is awake with a suitable chew which will keep her occupied for a short time and make it a pleasant experience. I would also encourage her naps during the day to be in there - again so she gets the idea that it is her space. It will take time and you may need to be in the same room as her to start off with, but she will get the idea!

Thank you folks x
She does have 2 chews, a teddy, comfy bed one side and training mat the other with a small bowl of water. The bedding smells of us both.

Try putting a warm hot water bottle under her blankets in the crate It is known to work

Break through !!! YEAH We had a whole nights sleep AND she was a clean girl, well to be more accurate it got to 5.30 and I was so concerned that we had not heard anything from her that I got up and went down stairs, in fact I think I woke her up. I am so proud of her, I hope we have turned the corner. Of course I know there will be slip backs; but if she has done it once she will be able to do it again with routine. 6 whole hours, I think that is good for a 10 week old puppy Thank you to all who put suggestions on here, what it actually took was a repositioning of her bed, sometimes it is the simple things that work. She is now snuggled up to me on the sofa in the conservatory; her favourite place Attachment Deleted
