Small child has finally clicked with his new pony so I feel that the time is right to join a couple of societies for qualifying. I have a feeling the answer is going to be NPS and BSPS.
So question is as I am as confused as hell .... who holds the RI Plaited Nursery Stakes and who holds the HOYS M&M qualifiers? Is there such a thing as an M&M Nursery qualifier?
What about PUK?

Ask yourself how far you want to travel, what shows are in your area. To get a small child to travel long distances in one way to put it off of showing; not to mention the expense. You can get schedules of most shows online to see what they have to offer.

BSPS membership governs the RIHS plaited N/S & this also covers you for HOYS WHP BUT there is only 133 WHP (no N/S at HOYS)
There are M&M N/S classes under BSPS rules too (at their championships plus a some affiliated shows but not at RIHS or HOYS)
The 133 M&M WHP classes at RIHS are under NPS membership & the ones at HOYS are under both societies membership.
Hope this helps

The NPS has a M&M First Ridden WHP National Championship with the final held at the Summer Champs at Malvern. it is only the owner of the pony that needs to become a NPS member. If you are doing HOYS qualifiers then yes your NPS membership covers all the ponies you own for all the plaited, M&M and pony WHP classes. HOYS rules require the rider becomes a member too.
Probably not for this year but your NPS membership also covers the pony to compete in RIHS M&M WHP qualifiers. And if you also wanted to plait the pony up and do cradle/nursery stakes, we have a National Championship for that too - the Rivervalley WHP series.
The Summer Champs also has a training stakes series which you can do with both M&Ms and plaited ponies, and on the Tuesday there is a whole ring dedicated to the juniors with all sorts of classes that offer a lot of fun for a partnership in its first season
Also there is a £10 discount if you join before 31st January.

I'm with gillwales on this one, but she was less direct than I'm going to be. Is your priority to qualify for as much as possible in the show ring, or bring up your child to enjoy ponies and riding, to take part eventually in whatever discipline he/she chooses?
Tin hat on ready!

Tin hat on ready! Can no one ever ask a question and receive a simple answer on here any more? No wonder the OP posted as a guest!! Did she say she's going to drag her child round the country and enter he/she in every qualifier going? No wonder society memberships are down!!

There seems to be a select few on here that are far too quick to jump on posters for little or no reason! I purely asked which societies as (like most on here) I want to step up a gear to some more serious qualifiers this year and suddenly get accused of child abuse! LOL. Perhaps we are suddenly a threat! Too many posts on HG these days that jump on people for seemingly no reason.

We don't hike her round all over and if we are going long distance most times we stay over the night before. I'm sure there are kids who don't look me travelling but thankfully mine isn't one of them. Hope you've got sorted with which society is right for you.

Actually I was merely trying to point out the expenses, and yes travelling children who might not be that keen can put them off of riding, I have seen this when teaching. I have not accused anyone of abusing their children. I would assume that the question was put to cut down on costs or the OP would just register with everyone. It is very easy to get carried away with entering loads of shows and find out half way through the season just how expensive it is on mileage. So in this case methinks it is the pot calling the kettle black!
