Can anyone advise?
My little horse is 5yo and gets extremely anxious about hacking out.
It doesn’t make any difference if alone or company and the more there is the worse she is. She constantly jogs and gets wound up. I think if I was a novice rider she’d rear but hasn’t done that as I drive her on. It comes in pockets, she can be fine happy plodding then whatever sets her off I don’t know but it’s awful.
It’s stopping me taking her as I’m worried she will injure herself or someone.
Any suggestions really appreciated as at my wits end.

Any suggestions really appreciated as at my wits end. I think I would find myself one "nanny" to hack with. She could certainly be anxious hacking alone at 5 years, so I would suggest you need a quiet companion to give her confidence. She might be better in front at first, you might think she would be better behind, but often this is not the case. She will need to get used to being in front or behind eventually but start where she is happiest. I would be avoiding hacking with a number of horses at the moment. Have you got a suitable friend with something ultra calm to work on this? I am a great believer in hacking to keep a horse sane, so do think you need to work through this but it will not be a quick fix.

I agree with above however it might be an idea to work her in your school first to get some energy out of her before going on a hack. You could also practice with someone by riding around in pairs. Make certain when you go out that someone at base knows where you are going and what time you expect to be back, take a mobile with you on silent. Please make certain you are dressed for safety, hard hat, body protector and gloves. If you think she might stand up fit a standing martingale.

And in the practice one should stand still while the other rides round and past, then swap roles. Same when you get to that stage on a hack - one stand still, the other ride on and past, then stop when ahead and repeat. but this will be further on down the line when hacking out with your nanny.
And be ready for anything - I was riding my nanny with daughter and her youngster on the common once years ago when we found where there were Highland cows conservation grazing. Hers was fine, my nanny freaked out, although his idea of that is to jog, snorting and rolling his eyes, nothing worse. He's still frightened of cows in spite of having been lent out to a dairy farm at one stage

I take her with my daughters pony but it doesn’t make any difference if she’s with her or not.
If I take her in the trailer to the bridleways it’s easier as no traffic to worry about but sometimes I don’t have time to do it so would like to go from home eventually.
I’ll try riding her in the arena first to take the edge off. If I get on her in the arena she’s fine but if I get on her to go for a ride on the yard she again gets anxious it’s really weird
