Currently turning one of the stables into a permanent washroom and would like to add some kind of solarium..without completely blowing kids inheritance!
Have seen a purpose built one by Silver Shadow Solariums priced at £495 which sounds inexpensive and wondered if anyone had any experience of this make?Or could offer any advice or experience about other budget solariums.
I say " Solariums" but, really,we just need something to help dry ponies quickly after bathing when weather is cold and quess that means infra red lamps.
Any info on either gprofessional ones or DIY which are safe to use in a washroom would be highly appreciated

Not what you are looking for but I used to bath the ponies indoors at all times of the year and would rug up using wicking rugs, in my case thermalex which was a local company at the time.

Thank you gillwales...up to now we have washed outside our stables albeit under cover of a large covered area which is fine except when the wind blows from the west(which is nearly always here.We too use the modern polar fleece wicking rugs and use Thermatex bandages before going back in their stables. In the old days,I recall,in order to help dry them off we used to put a layer of straw under a NZ rug so they resembled camels!
With the conversion of this new washroom we will at least be able to wash indoors and have hot and cold water laid on but would be so nice to let the ponies dry off under some warm heaters.
I guess most showing people have solariums but we didnt get round to it earlier mainly because funds always 'had their hat on'.

We have one at our yard and I can honestly say that it is a huge help in drying the horses off quickly, but we also put ours under before and after being ridden too and they do seem to really enjoy the experience and work softer through their backs sooner as well. In fact now we have got used to having a hot shower and solarium, I think my pony would consider himself neglected if it wasn't there lol...not that he's spoiled haha!!
