we have done lots of whp over the years so it's a scene i am quite familiar with. however, we have now moved on to a horse and i am wondering if she would be suitable to compete as a working hunter. She is an attractive mare with a lovely, careful jump but she is only 16hh and 3/4TB x Welsh. Is she going to look ridiculously small and fine? someone said to me that the horses doing well on the wh circuit are usually enormous! it is quite expensive to join the relevant societies so i don't want to do it and find she is entirely the wrong type. There seem to be quite a few intermediates of her stamp that do quite well, but is it the same with the horse classes?

There are a few intermediates that do horse workers as well and do well in them. Just comes down to typical showing, if the judges like them. But if she jumps and nice round and will give a nice ride your nearly there anyway!!
The lightweight section seem to throw up a variety of types from more event error types to abit more substantial. There is a vast array of different types that jump the lightweight section at rihs. Good luck!

Thank you! we will need it. just wondered what you mean about the lightweight section at rihs - are there separate lightweight qualifiers? am finding it quite difficult to get all the information from the societies. which society do you have to belong to for rihs qualifiers?

It will depend on her jump, if she is a bold but careful jumper that jumps on the flow and obviously enjoys her job, goes forward when asked but also comes hack to hand then that is a good part of the class. The main thing is will you enjoy showing her? Will she be the horse you want to take back home with you? If so then go ahead and enter, if only being at the top of the line matters then go and watch some in your area and see what is being put up before committing to go to shows
