Anyone know what type of pony Mrs G Cockbain likes in a FDH class? I understand she breeds dales/fells? Hello! You have possibly answered your own question. Perhaps (not only you - there are many others too who ask these sort of q's) - With today's amazing facility of Google (aside from Stud Books, Society Year Books etc.) perhaps do a little bit of homework on your Judges prior to asking these sort of questions - you might just find the answers! Indeed, you might find that this particular lady would know a little bit about Fell and Dales ponies. This genuine post most unfortunately exposes the frightening thing about the future of the Mountain & Moorland section, to be totally honest. Signed: - from a genuine, died-in-the-wool Breed Society old-stager who is now waiting to be shot down in proverbial flames.

I am not sure why you always have to be so mean and condescending to people and try and make them feel 2" high.
For the love of God, this is what the forum is for. People should be able to canvass opinions, ask questions or seek advice freely without fear of being criticised for doing so. Just because the woman breeds fells or whatever, doesn't mean she can't ask the question. There may well be others whip have some knowledge - perhaps she likes them light, or to move a specific way
Try and be gracious and helpful without attacking all the time. Give people a chance and don't let shooting them down in flames be your automatic reaction. Remember what Thumper's mother said............if you can't say nothing nice - don't say 'nothing' (sic) at all..............

In response to the second reply! It was a mere questionas i had already looked through google social media etc and asked the question on there. I do not have a broad proffesional set of friends on there so asked on here.. it costs us mere amatures over 150 in fuel 60 in class fees etc all for one chance at the dream ticket.. there for seeming I dont own a fell or dales in that class i merely wondered if it was a waste of a day off work and money that was all. But thank you for your rather sharp in put...

I don't judge, but have often been told that judges are often harder on their own breed as they know it so well.

Well I believe a Highland won so hopefully the best pony on the day took the class, regardless of its breed.

Well said, Watchedthefootballinstead
To the original poster, what you have to also take into consideration is that there were two judges judging today, as is the norm with Hoys ridden M&M qualifiers, so it takes both judges to like your pony.
If it helps, the first three ponies in the Hoys H/F/D @ TSR today were all greys, first and third highlands, second a fell, all strong types of their breed with plenty of bone. Well done to them all.

Exactly firtree.
It is a question the same as asking about a splint, it can and will only be answered on the day.
