Had a think about the cat forum. There is a cat magazine called "Your Cat", if you google that, there may well be a cat forum on their site?
We are funny about our animals arnt we. We know they are going to break our hearts, when they leave us, but we still willingly/obsessively go out and get more, of the little treasures, to break our hearts all over again.
My first ever cat "Henry" died when he was 9 yrs. He was a big/bossy/naughty but very loving black cat. He went down hill very quickly with a failing kidney. Like you, had to make the decision. I cried buckets for the week before "the right decision time" and for weeks after. Still miss him now.
However....Mr Pickle, my big fat, soppy, loving and very well behaved cat (who does all of the things in the video of the man asleep, but thinks I dont know its him, as I have my eyes tight shut, trying to ignore him) was frankly "thrilled" when Henry passed into cat heaven!
Henry had spent his indoor time, ensuring that Pickle did as Henry told him and was not allowed any human affection, whilst he was in the room. If Pickle was in a comfy place, Henry would Bop him one, and nick the spot.
After Henry died, my husband bought me a Bengal female "Tiggy". Mr Pickle was in his element! No more bossy Henry and a sexy young girl to sniff and play with. Then Bertie Bassett, the new "black" kitten arrived and he thinks Pickle is super God and loves to snuggle up to him!
No wonder Mr Pickle is still going strong at 13 yrs, he has a new lease of life!

How i feel now i cant have more cats.Lulu was like a dog,she would come to call at all times not like the others who come if it suits them.they all got personalities just like people.got 5 cats left to go through it all again,3 of which i hand reared. i am so ill today, was sick last night and this morning got mouth ulcers, earache, sore throat and a pounding headache. got my equine competence driving test today and i'm really not in the mood.i'll probably fail.

Oh poor you. I had a horrible virus for the last two weeks with the same symptoms. I expect you being so upset over Lulu has bought your defences down.
I hope the driving test is a success?
I expect a new cat will come to you in time, as you say its impossible to replace the one you have lost.
Chin up x
