Does anyone know of famous riders in the past (dead), perhaps for dressage, eventing or carriages?

There are of course very many, how far back? Alexander the Great is one of the first noted, and there are books written on horse training and classical riding ever since then, including what are now dressage movements but were originally for use in war - horses having been for using, not merely pleasure as they are now, for most of history.

I was trained by the late great former National Instructor Lt Col Bill Froud FBHS. If that is any help to you and you want to ask questions; fire away!
