I was wondering what the ruling was for knots in reins in BSPS Heritage lead rein classes? I have read they can have a knot in each rein but not a single knot, but have seen pictures at ponies uk of ponies with a single knot .Are there different rulings for different society’s? Thankyou

The BSPS rulebook is available to read on their website www.bsps.comRule 52 Actually that does not answer the OP question as she does not want to shorten the reins, just put a knot in each of them where the hands are. In Lead Rein classes Reins must be of a normal length and not knotted together or stitched together at a shorter length. Handles on saddles are permitted but the reins must not be attached to the handle or to the saddle. OP - I know you used to be able to put a knot in each of the reins where the hands are to help the little ones to find and keep the correct length of rein. We do not do leadrein though any more so you would need to call the office and ask them to clarify if this is still the case.

Actually it does answer the question for BSPS classes - you can put one knot in each rein! ie not one knot to join the two reins together & therefore "shorten" the total length between the two bit rings

No, the rules that you very kindly attached a link for do not talk about individual knots specifically so yes it would be best for OP to call the office to confirm. As I said, yes, you used to be able to do it but as the rules do not specifically talk about individual knots it is best to phone them.
That is unless you are certain of the rules and if that is the case why did not not just say that in the first instance rather than just posting a link to the rule book!

I am certain of the rules but as every BSPS member is sent a copy of them I felt that I could point out which one to read to save my time & theirs looking them up IMO the rule is quite clear but as you say you are no longer in these classes so perhaps that's why you are unsure
