Hi know bitting is a minefield but need some asvice please.
Is a tom thumb bit with a leather back strap legal to be used in affiliated WH classes.
New pony has come with this bit. We are playing with other types but pony still seems to go best in this bit but only with back strap. This is not like a curb as sits higher and seems to reduce bit rotation and poll action.
Please any advice, suggestions or alternatives that can be used in the ring would be very helpful.

BSPS Rule says any suitable bridle except Bitless bridles and running gags for WHP classes. So the answer to your question is yes you can use the Tom Thumb. Judges are advised to take into consideration the severity of the bit. Their opinions on suitable bridles may vary and their decision is final.
