I get very frustrated by people warming up at dressage competitions, who dont know the rules for warming up in company.
1. Pass left to left 2. walk on an inner track, thus allowing the outside track to keep moving!
Is this really that difficult to learn?
Also, why do the stewards not tell people off for not abiding by the rules? It makes working in, very dangerous and also intimidating for young riders, who are abiding by the rules, but keep getting crashed into, by others.
At one venue in Hampshire, they have these rules in Massive letters on the entrance to the school. Over half the people warming up, still ignore them........!?!

Perhaps they belong to the illiterate generation that schools are producing!

I hate people that use the warm up ring as a clooecting ring at shows and stand around "polishing"!! They are always on the track in the way - BLOODY MOVE!!!!!

It was the same at Ingliston EC this weekend-there's a huge sign with a few simple rules and some ignorant slobs were still standing roung nattering while those warming up had very little room to move!

I know.... What about those that all gather round the entrance too. BLocking off the exit, blocking off the track and just sitting there gossiping, or having boots removed etc. Get out the arena to do these things! Or at least stand in the middle.
I end up asking people very politely to walk on an inner track. For that I get glared at, or asked "why should I", and then TOTALLY IGNORED.....
Some people genuinely dont know the rules, so if any one reading this thread doesnt, please pass them on and teach your kidsfriends the same!
I tell my kids the rules EVERYTIME they go in a warmup area and watch them like a hawk to make sure they dont forget. So many people are "anti children" at dressage, but I wont have my children, or those that I teach, being ignorant of simple rules, that are set for help EVERYONE warm up safely.

The kids are often better than the adults!! At least with kids they sometimes just dont know where as a lot of adults think they are far more important!!!

this really gets on my nerves why cant people follow the rules !!!
its not as though they are hard to remember.
some people are just to ignorant and rather "tart" up the ponies on the track instead of going out side and doing it. its like "just move i am tring to ride here"

What about the ones who constantly cut across the practice fence or jump it in the wrong direction!

Dressage... I thought bay warmplods ALWAYS had right of way over inferior horses of lesser breeding?

NO bay warmbloods do NOT THINK they have right of way, over other horses. Warmbloods are also not SUPERIOR to other breeds, they are bred for the purpose they are used for, the same as showponies, m&m's etc.
I have one and I always give way as I am supposed to do. YOu cant lump people in a category, according to the horse they ride. Thats just being narrow minded.
IGNORANT people, do not follow school rules, this has nothing to do with the shape, size, model or cost of the horse/pony they are riding...

Don't worry lovepink, as someone who does have warmbloods and competes in dressage regularly... it was meant to be very tongue in cheek. Although if you have ever taken a little native type in a BD warm up it is quite realistic!

This is so true and rather annoying... more so when you have a 15.3hh Palomino Section D who will kick out if you crash into him... I agree... ignorance is the cause not the horse/pony. x

God im getting old...................... There's nothing wrong with having a wicker basket & we're not all numpty's if we have one! They're great for taking into the ring and very handy for sitting your saddle on when you have to strip down. But yes, people blocking entrances etc are very annoying...just dont agree with the basket part!! lol

Are wicker baskets not mandatory for lead-rein mummies? By the time I got one, my boys had grown out of lead-rein, but its still in my lorry packed full of essentials. Very hand peice of kit, if you ask me.
Just dont leave it in the bloomin way! Or your pushchair with baby sat in it!
