Now my little Bengal cat, has a piddling problem, which is getting out of hand. She used to piddle in the sink, till my husband told her off and then she began doing it elsewhere..... We have a catflap, but she comes IN to piddle. We have a littertray, but she prefers the luxury of leather sofa's or carpet. I have stopped the lether sofa being piddled on by adding a throw and spiky cushions (you would want to squat on one of them!), but the lounge carpet behind the sofa, is still being "used", for this purpose! I have recently been putting fresh lemons round there, which stopped her for 2 weeks, but now I think she has got used to them! Any other tips on how to deter her from this area? I have tried the Feliway spray and plug-in, but it didnt work. Tried other "cat-off" sprays and not worked? HELP.......... ??

Oh dear Heathers.......not sure how Hubby will take to the pulling up of the carpet idea! We would like to replace the lounge carpet, but no point unless we can stop her "piddling ways" LOL x

The reason your cat is piddlig in the house, is because she feels threatened by the presence of a new cat in the neighbourhood. She is marking her territory. Wipe her fur with a cloth and scent everywhere she might sit or sleep. Find out who's got a new cat, or if there is a tom cat around, I think your husband really has nothing to do with it.

HI If its just one part of the carpet I would try putting her food bowl there. Do you have litter trays in the house if not I would put 3 down again in the places she chooses to use. Then over a couple of weeks change from cat litter to soil and move slowly to the cat flap. Hope this helps as its not a very easy habit to change.

Oh dear, I am just rushing Tiggy to the vets. The piddling problem is a physical one! She is going every 2 seconds now and it is red. She is washing her bits too, so I think she is sore...........

Sounds like cystitis, my old cat had it around bonfire night, owing to being frightened to go out because of the fireworks. They gave her something called cystaid, but if you look on the ingredients you will find it is glucosamine, which you can buy over the counter a lot cheaper. Worth keeping her on a supplement, apparently it helps the lining of the bladder.

She is on anti-biotics and I have to get her to wee on some crystals to get a wee sample Anyone ever asked their very nervous, stressed out cat to wee on some special stones? I am afraid the cause of her stress is "Bertie Bassett", who as you may have read on previous threads, is a very naughty young man! The vet recommends 4 litters trays, so she has ample places to go. Also, one behind the sofa, where she is going secretly. I do understand the logic in all this, but would you like to come round my house with aroma of litter tray in the front room?

It might be pricey, but you can buy a litter tray that has a roof, and a door, and they have a charcoal filter in the lid. Cuts down on the smell a lot. I did buy one probably 4 or 5 years ago, and from memory it was about £25 back then. I'll see if I can find a link to something similar.

can i suggest that you clean any areas of pee with biological washing powder, cats can still smell their scent when we have cleaned it up,and if you use bleach the ammonia attracts them even more. The enzymes in the washing powder gets rid of the scent.

Soda crystals nuetralise the acidity in the urine, and dispel the smell.

Thanks guys will try that. Also read to spray the area with Surgical spirit once dry and put a bowl of cat food down there.
