I may be jumping to drastic conclusions but my husband has just been offered two young shetlands by some travellers.
There have been a group of travellers on land near brighton racecourse for over a month now but we haven't noticed any horses with them. However this morning one of the travellers was asking the racecourse staff if they wanted to buy two young shetlands. My husband got excited and phoned me to see if we wanted them. At the moment I dont know any further info about them but am cautious.
On the positive side, the travellers have been on the site for quite a while and we have had no problems with them and they are keeping the area clean and tidy. I do not have a problem with travellers but I do know there have been a lot of shetland thefts lately and even my own minis had been let out of their stable back in March. Luckily my young colt is a bit of a handful and mum is very protective so they just ran!
If I find out any more I will post the info and if I'm genuinely concerned will contact the local police.

Sorry I've not responded to these messages I've been out all day. Have checked out the details of the hampshire shetlands but it sounds like they were taken some point over night. At least the police are involved and will hopefully check the ponies out. Unfortunately I still dont have the full details of them but will keep you all posted with any developments.
