And when we were putting my last horse (small Hack who had been to RI in first season) out on loan I had calls from parents asking if she would teach their 12yr old son how to do dressage, someone else wanted her for a father to take his children out hunting on and another said they were an experienced pony club home and when I said she's a Hack they said 'ooh yes that's good we like hacking 'so I said maybe you don't understand what I mean, she's a Show Horse the woman said Oh we hate showing! I had to change the advert in the end to no PC, Happy Hackers or young teenagers! Some people are insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did she think you meant happy hacker??! No, it had apparently done quite well in the show ring and qualified for various things the last couple of years so she should have known what a Hack was!

She told him disgustedly "no she is NOT, she is an exceptionally well bred WB........" I had a little chuckle to myself ;D ;D ;D A lot of people genuinly dont understand the breeding behind Warmbloods. The German one I have just bought (subject to vet) would look perfectly at home in a PB arab class.

I was asked if my new Hack was an arab - he's full TB, could have forgiven it if he resembled an arab in the slightest but he obviously doesn't!!!

I have to admit to asking my friend if her TB was part arab, only the other day, she didnt take offense though, and said everyone asked her the same.
I would take it as a compliment, as arabs are SO PRETTY.

You should'nt be embarressed if you think a horse or pony looks like an arab when you think how much the arab blood has influenced a lot of todays breeds,We have a lot to thank the versatile arab for

yeah, am grateful for the arab blood in the welsh lines, i believe thats where alot of the beauty came from, however a little insulted when i was asked if my 11.3 sec A was an arab??!! had to laugh though!! if he had been tearing round a field with his tail up and neck arched, from a distance, a mile perhaps, he may have resembled an arab!!

I have had someone ask if mine were retired police horses (They are an 11.3 sec A and a 12.3 coloured hp) she lives on the posh housing estate next to our yard and was walking her dog in the woods while I walked my ponies past, she said she noticed that we had a lot of horses in the field and wondered if it was a retirement home for police horses

They'd be good at that crowd shoving business, the mare shoves me out of the way as soon as I open her door

ha ha, yeah come to think of it reckon my sec A would do a fab job of sorting the crowds!!! one dirty look they'd all get out of his way!!!!! and the sec b@s erratic screaming would be enough to move anybody on!!! inc me!!

I wasn't embarassed at all but he is full TB and has a very pretty but obvious TB head. I took my last SRT into a PBA class at a local show down the road for experience, she was actually TB x Han x Sec D and she won the class ;D

Very funny! LOL
Going back to the original theme of this thread........As we accept that some of our warmbloods are basically Arab x, from Germany or Holland etc etc should we be able to show them in the PBA classes? I notice that on the showing welsh x's they look right back into their pedigree, to ascertain their percentage.
Bet this would be virtually impossible to do with the WBs though, as all foreign passports etc?
This isnt a particularly serious query, just a ponder.......

If the horses parents were all registered then i shouldnt think there would be a problem in tracing back i wouldnt have thought, but i may be wrong. All id do is send them a copy of the passport and get them to look back as far as they possibly can to see if they can get the 12.5% that is needed to be a partbred. Just got to remember that over each generation the % is halved. We did this with our old show pony, we managed to get 12.59% but going really far back in her breeding.

Yes but was your horse of foreign birth?
I tried to register my last German Horse, with the name I had chosen for her. I was told, NO that name does not resemble her passport name (which was German), when I asked what her German name meant, they said they didnt know. I tried to google it, but got no-where. I sent an email to German WB Society. Got no response.
It seems to be a bit more complicated with the imports, than the English bred horses/ponies?

I have an imported KWPN with well known bloodlines and when looking at her breeding the arab and tb blood became quite apparent (Florestan,Ferro,Wellington.to mention a few)

No my mare wasnt foreign but the point i was trying to make was that if all the passport is in order and the horses parents are regisitered then there shouldnt be a problem having a look back through the lines. Dont quite get what you mean about when you tried to regisiter your german horse with a name you chosen for her but it didnt match her passpoprt name. Doesnt the horse have to be registered in the name that's on its passport? I was under the impression that this is what had to happen but i may be wrong?

Ring the AHS first, and they will check details of arab lineage on your mares passport and if it is registered and showing on their data-base, they can then give you the % your mare has, and if 12.5% or above, then send the passport Their phone number is 01672 520782 or fax copy of passport 01672 520880.

3 ways you can tell my horse is a warmblood...
1. He is very special and will always find somthing to look at, like a man dragging a dingy 5 miles down the beach! Its the appocalypse!!!!
2. He has a bacon brand on his left thigh
3. Backwards is his favorite gait! Yeeeeeeeees
Guess what breed of WB he is...?
